There have been
several expositions arranged in the archeological museum in Preslav
for the 95 years of history of the museum. As years went by and
archaeologists discovered and accumulated more artifacts, the Museum
required more exposition space. As a result, the Museum
has been housed in three different buildings during its history,
growing successively larger with each move.
As of 1957, the Museum's collection became more specialized so as to
include only monuments from the medieval
period, showing signs of development of the town and the surrounding
areas.
The Museum's interior and facade today have been unchanged since 1993.
Meanwhile, in 1998, a special room was designed and equipped to keep
the most precious exhibits in it under the appropriate atmospheric
conditions and tighter security measures.
